  1. Convention or law that governs the side of
  2. the road on which traffic drives. In Britain,
  3. this states that vehicles should be kept to
  4. the left of the road or be liable for any
  5. ensuing damage. The reverse applies nearly
  6. everywhere else in the world, all traffic
  7. keeping to the right, which is also the rule
  8. at sea and for two ships crossing, when the
  9. one having the other on its starboard must
  10. give way.
